Laser Vein Treatment
Spider veins on the body and face are not dangerous but can hinder ones looking and feeling their absolute best. One of the treatments that is becoming more mainstream is Vein Reduction treatments. A common condition that occurs as a result of prolonged standing and walking, pregnancy, hormones, history of blood clots, genetics or age itself can cause Spider Veins to appear on the body. Leg Veins and Facial Veins can be uncomfortable and not very nice to look at. These veins can develop on almost any part of the body, but most frequently on thighs, calves, ankles, buttocks or the face.
Resolve this issue with the GentleMax Pro Laser System!
What Are Spider Veins?
Spider Veins can be blue, purple or red in colour; they often look like branches of a tree, thin jagged lines or spider-web like formations. In the legs, spider veins occur when the valves inside the veins don’t work properly. Veins carry blood back to the heart. To prevent blood from flowing backward, they contain a one-way valve that closes once the blood passes through it. If this valve weakens or becomes damaged, the blood may struggle to flow in the correct direction, and it can begin to pool inside the vein. Over time, this can cause a bulge in the vein that branches out, resulting in spider veins.
Spider veins on the face are often the result of tiny blood vessels bursting. Increased pressure like sneezing or sun damage can cause this to occur.
How Does It Work?
Our GentleMax Pro uses the ND:Yag Laser, it directs a powerful yet gentle light-based energy directly into the skin. The laser targets the vein, causing the blood inside it to coagulate. Over time, the vein collapses and the appearance is diminished.
Because the laser energy is directed toward the vein, the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. Clients express the sensation similar to the snapping of a rubber band against the skin. Discomfort is further minimized by GentleMax Pro’s patented DCD™ cooling device, which releases bursts of cryogen gas with each pulse of laser.

It is important to note that a series of treatments to see maximum results. Expect anywhere from two to six treatments spaced six to eight weeks apart. The laser heats up the blood, which in turn heats the small vein or capillary and destroys it very quickly. The laser beam is intermittent and highly focused and does not damage the nearby skin tissue. During and after the series of treatments, the veins will gradually change colour from blue to light red, and they will eventually diminish over the course of several weeks after the last session.
How to Prepare for the Treatment
Like with any treatment, there are steps to be taken to ensure successful results. Because we are working with a laser, sun exposure needs to be limited and/or avoided for at least 4-6 weeks prior to the treatment. Taking Aspirin and smoking needs to be stopped at least a week before the treatment. Skin that has been exposed to tanning via a tanning bed or spray tanning cannot be treated. On the day of the treatment, avoid creams, lotions and moisturizers and wear comfortable loose clothing.
The technician will go over the treatment with the client, the treatment simply put is the laser will pulse the area being treated effectively reducing the vein. During the treatment, the client may experience slight discomfort with each pulse as the feeling is similar to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. However, the discomfort is minimal as the GentleMax Pro is paired with a dynamic cooling system, which makes the treatments comfortable.
Immediately after the treatment, the skin may experience some redness and swelling to the area, which some clients equate it to feeling like a sunburn. The discomfort can be eased with ice after the treatment. This discomfort could last for a couple of hours or a day at the very most. There is little to no downtime after this treatment. Immediately after the treatment, avoid extreme heat, sun exposure, exfoliating or irritating products. For the best results, appointments should be scheduled six to eight weeks apart.
