Ever feel like your skin is a bit dull and could use a pick-me up but don’t want an invasive treatment to get the glowing and polished skin you want? We have the solution for you!
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion works on all skin types. It makes subtle changes, causing no damage or scarring.
Microdermabrasion works really well to clean clogged pores, it is a useful treatment for clients who are hesitant to do chemical peels (though chemical peels are great treatments, it is not for everyone) The simplest way to explain how Microdermabrasion works is this – Microdermabrasion uses a wand that vacuums across the skin collecting dead skin cells from the surface. Though this may sound like an uncomfortable experience, many clients feel tight and enjoy the feeling of the suction against the skin.
Microdermabrasion helps produce thicker, healthier skin layers; multiple treatments are vital because they encourage the production of a new layer of skin cells that contains higher levels of collagen and elastin. Both of these components are essential for vibrant, healthy skin, and they will further improve your complexion and the overall appearance of your skin.
Crystal Versus Diamond Microdermabrasion
When we are searching for Microdermabrasion treatments a common thing that comes up is Microdermabrasion with a Crystal Machine and Microdermabrasion with a Diamond Machine. Though both machines do the same job, there are drastic differences between the two.
Let’s Talk Crystal
The Crystal Microdermabrasion machine works by mildly ablating the skin to remove the outer surface of the skin. This way of doing Microdermabrasion with a Crystal tip works by a hand held device which causes a high speed flow of aluminum oxide crystals that is then released on the skin at a high temperature and rate. The common phrase for Crystal Microdermabrasion is ‘sand blasting’ dead skin cells off of the face.
Diamonds Are Everybody’s Best Friend
Microdermabrasion using a Diamond tip works differently; while the Diamond tip does ablate the skin, it does not ‘blast’ heat on to the skin. This method uses a Diamond crusted tip which deeply exfoliates the skin while the suction picks up dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. The Diamond Microdermabrasion does not expel any particles back onto the skin which makes the treatment less messy for the client and the aesthetician.
Mechanical Versus Manual
You may have heard this phrase while searching about Microdermabrasion. Simply put, mechanical Microdermabrasion is the treatment being done with a machine and manual Microdermabrasion is done with with microdermabrasion beads and the aestheticians hands. Both do the same job; however, the strength behind the mechanical machine is vastly different than hands. It’s a matter of personal preference and based on what the skin needs.
At Laserlicious, we use a Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion which removes the outer layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile, safe, and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells.
